LOG 4

The 14-day forecasts also come in the old traditional style formats, but again we wanted to put the power of the data in your hands with an interactive charting tool. Maybe you're a farmer and just want to see temps, winds and rain or maybe you need to see pressure and humidity for your migraines, or you want to see how the forecasts compare to averages it does all that. There's a sun and moon card, daily historical summary, 35-day forecasts, 1-year of daily historical weather data with monthly summaries and again this is all global across every mile on Earth.

LOG 5

The severe weather alert tool has the custom warnings for things like floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, winds, snowstorms, etc. but our unique feature is CUSTOM weather alerts for just about anything you could think up like 5.4" of rain or 14.5" of snow or winds over 50 mph, or temperatures below 28F, etc. Another unique feature is lightning alerts within 0 to 50 miles of your phone's location, including the oceans.

LOG 7

Now back to the World weather summaries and short-range outlooks.

Last week (27 Sep - 3 Oct) World Summary shows the U.S. trending -1.7F cooler than last year, coolest in 4 years but still 5th warmest in 41 years. Cold <32F days were up +83% but still 5th least in 41 years, while rainfall was way up +446% vs LY, wettest in 11 years and 4th wettest in 41 years. Cooler/wetter weather this time of year is better for Fall apparel sales so there were some positives in the North Central U.S. and Central Canada. Very unfavorable in the U.K. and Europe with warmer/drier conditions benefiting consumables like cold beverages.

LOG 8

The combination of dry conditions in the West and recent cooler weather in the Central and Northeast U.S. has Fall Foliage off to a quicker start than last year. This can at least remind consumers that Winter is coming and to start thinking about things they'll need.

LOG 10

NFL week #4 shows another cooler weekend with the U.S. trending the coolest in 4 years and wettest in 13 years. VERY HOT for the Western games so cold beverages will be in hot demand while the East is more Fall like.

LOG 11

The Polar Vortex is getting very close to reaching the ground and it looks strong. This keeps the cold air bottled up at the North Pole.

LOG 12

The tropics taking a bit of a breather in the Pacific with only a couple systems and the near record inactive season in the Atlantic continues.

LOG 13

If the Hurricane season was a football score, it would be 61 in the Pacific and 8 in the Atlantic in terms of number of systems.

LOG 14

This Week (4-10 Oct) prior Columbus Day shows some of the remnants of once CAT 5 Hurricane Polo that moved into Mexico and then across the Gulf Coast with heavy flooding rain. The Northeast is the favorable spot for Fall merchandise sales while the West is near record hot benefiting consumable late Summer type categories. The U.S. overall trends +1F warmer than last year and 7th warmest of the past 41 years. Rainfall is -12% drier than last year nationally and 18th driest in 41 years with flooding rains limited to the Southeast.

LOG 15

Next Week (11-17 Oct) the pattern begins to become more transient with cold and wet weather moving into the West with a HUGE pent-up demand surge for Fall merchandise possible. The heat moves into the Central U.S. keeping consumers in the Summer mindset, and combined with dry weather, farmers will be harvesting quickly. Nationally the U.S. is +3.3F warmer than LY, warmest in 31 years and 2nd warmest in 41 years, very negative trends for Fall sales. Rainfall up +18%, wettest in 3 years but 19th driest in 41 years. More heavy rain in the Southeast could lead to more localized flooding and demand for Home Center categories.

LOG 16

The 2-week World Temperature Outlook (4-17 Oct) shows a generally hostile pattern for Fall merchandise, especially apparel. Warm/dry weather can benefit Home Center outdoor building categories and Halloween outdoor decor.

LOG 17

The 2-week World Precipitation Outlook (4-17 Oct) shows a drier pattern for the Central U.S., Central Canada, U.K. and Eastern Europe. Very wet across Mexico, Southern Brazil, much of Africa.
