We were on with Amy & Craig at
FOX Weather last week talking about our Spring outlook and one topic was wildfires.
Expecting
wildfires to be up +74% above average and the most in 5 years; particularly in the Southwest and Central Plains.
Last Week (13-19 March) across the World shows the U.S. trending +2.7F warmer than last year, warmest in 6 years and 9th warmest of the past 37 years. Rainfall was down -33%, driest in 3 years but still 14th wettest of the past 37 years with above average national rainfall. Snowfall was the least in 10 years, down -69% vs last year and 5th least of the past 37 years.
The colder YOY spots were Canada, U.K. Russia and Brazil. Very warm in China and Australia.
This week (20-26 March) shows the U.S. trending -1.8F colder than last year, coolest in 3 years but still 11th warmest of the past 37 years. Rainfall down 13% and least in 3 years but still 10th wettest of the past 37 years.
Need to watch for another
severe weather outbreak across the Deep South from Texas to Georgia early this week.
Any snowfall will mainly be in the higher elevations of the West and some in the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes. While U.S. snowfall is +63% more than last year, it's still -52% below average and 12th least of the past 37 years.
Next Week (27 Mar - 2 Apr) shows cooler trends for the Great Lakes and Northeast, but much of the U.S. trends above average. Temperatures trending +2.1F warmer that last year, 5th warmest in 37 years and 12th warmest of the past 37 years. Rainfall -9% drier than a year ago, driest in 7 years and 8th driest of the past 37 for the U.S. overall. The stormy spot is again in the middle of the country where they need the rain.
For the
2-week World outlook shows the warm spots in the U.S., Europe and especially the Middle East to Western China.
