Unfortunately, the Polar Vortex is camping out over Eastern North America and the Eastern half of the U.S. the next couple weeks and that's a negative for Christmas Holiday Season store traffic. This time of year, milder and drier weather is better for store traffic. It is a plus for Winter seasonal merchandise over gift categories. LOG 5 png-min

While Flu is increasing, it's still off to the slowest start in 4 years. This is a positive for the Holiday Shopping Season with a healthier population. LOG 6 png-min

This can lead to trip consolidation and a switch to greater on-line shopping hurting brick and mortar store traffic. Europe and Russia were much warmer YOY, while it was cooler and wetter across Brazil for their crops that are likely to be record breaking on top of last year's record breaking yields. LOG 15-minThis week (7-13 Dec) shows another Polar Vortex shot in the Eastern half of the U.S. with the week trending -3.6F colder than last year, coldest in 9 years and 13th coldest in 40 years.
